What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid?

We all face moments when fear tries to take the lead.
Sometimes it shows up as hesitation.
Sometimes it hides behind perfectionism.
And often, it sounds a lot like logic:
“I’ll wait until I have more experience.”
“Now isn’t the right time.”
“What if I try… and fail?”
But here’s the truth: most of the time, fear isn’t trying to protect you from real danger—it’s trying to protect your comfort zone.
Fear isn’t the enemy.
It’s information.
And when you get curious about what it’s telling you, you can start asking a more powerful question:
What would I do if I weren’t afraid?
When you give yourself space to answer honestly, the clarity that follows is incredible. You start to see what you really want—what’s been sitting under the surface, just waiting for your courage to catch up.
Would you speak up in the meeting?
Launch the business?
Say no to something that’s no longer aligned?
Fear doesn’t vanish overnight. But it also doesn’t have to dictate your next step.
Try this:
Write the question down.
Answer it as freely and boldly as you can.
Then take just one small action in that direction.
You don’t need to be fearless to lead—you just need to be willing to move anyway.
